The Project

Construction of the high voltage theatre included a theatre stage area which was to be protected by a mesh cage, tiered theatre seating, offices, store and high voltage display control room.

The high voltage laboratory area is surrounded by a steel cage separating the stage area from the spectators to form part of the electrical earthing insulation system.

The building was electro-magnetic radiation secured to protect against any discharge.

Specialised construction methods were used during the building works, for example: a specialised earth grid was sunken 3 metres into the ground under the building footprint, and construction of the walls and roof included a fully galvanised wire mesh to ensure no escape of electro-magnetic radiation.
